Adult Ambulatory Care Unit

The Adult Ambulatory Care Unit (AACU) offers patients who require day treatment a wide range of procedures including cardiac catheterization and cardioversion, as well as drug treatment, blood component, and hydration infusions. The unit also services a variety of patients who require invasive procedures such as liver and bone biopsies, paracentesis, and phlebotomy. Diagnostic testing is also done in the AACU and includes insulin tolerance tests, saline suppression and water deprivation tests.

The unit staff collaborates with a variety of specialists and accepts referrals from within the UConn Health Center and the community. Outpatient care is also provided to patients who require monitoring during prescribed procedures that do not require hospitalization.
