Primary Care

Welcome to the primary care practices of the University of Connecticut Health Center. We provide care to adults as well as to older adolescents who have outgrown their pediatrician. The focus of care is on prevention, wellness, screening and ongoing management of medical problems.

Our physicians are board-certified in Internal Medicine and have varied specialty interests, including family medicine, infectious diseases, diabetes, and women’s health.

Whether you are new to the area, changed insurance plans, or just want a new physician, we can help.

Appointments

Our physicians see patients primarily at one office, so be sure to specify which location is best for you. When you call to schedule a visit, you will be given the earliest possible appointment with your physician. If you don’t already have a physician, we will be happy to help you select one that is right for you. If you need an appointment immediately, we will make every effort to have you seen by a physician the same day. A physician is available to our patients by telephone during nights and weekends.

Other Services

As part of the UConn Health Center, more then 200 UConn physicians in more than 50 specialties are available for consultation or referral if necessary. If hospitalization is necessary, our physicians have admitting privileges at John Dempsey Hospital.

A registered nurse is available by appointment to provide education, blood pressure screening, and other monitoring services. For your convenience, blood drawing is available at most offices.

Our staff will be happy to answer any questions, please feel free to ask about anything you don’t understand.

Health Plan Participation

We participate in most major managed care plans including commercial Medicare and Medicaid products. We also accept Medicare and Connecticut Medicaid health plans.

Billing

As a service to you, your insurance carrier will be billed directly for all services provided. This should eliminate the need for you to fill out claim forms. Co-payments and payments for non-covered services are expected at the time of your visit. MasterCard, Visa, personal checks and cash are accepted.

You will receive a separate statement for diagnostic tests or treatment done at John Dempsey Hospital.

If you have questions about your bill, please call our Patient Service Representatives at 860-679-2689 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
