Urology Residency Program: Vacation, Call, Benefits

Vacation

The program provides for three weeks paid vacation during each year of training. Additional time for educational leave is permitted at the discretion of the program director.

Night Call

Urology residents are on call every fourth night from home. Depending on the rotation either one or two hospitals are covered.

Medical and Dental
Fully paid medical and dental insurance is provided through Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield. There is a payroll deduction per paycheck for spouse and/or dependants. Coverage begins on the first full day of employment and includes full hospitalization, med-surg and major medical. Dental includes 100% routine visits and x-rays with 80% of some reconstructive.

Insurance
Group term life equal to salary is provided free of charge. Additional coverage for accidental death and dismemberment is also included.

Disability is provided at no cost and will pay $3K per month after 90 days.

Optional supplemental to include spouse disability, additional life and cancer insurance is also offered.

Workers Compensation
You will be covered by the standard State of Connecticut Workers Compensation laws only for activities directly related to your residency program.

Professional Liability
You will be covered by Professional Liability while engaged in activities assigned to you by your program. You are not covered while moonlighting.

Dependant Care
This plan allows for reimbursement for child care or care for an incapacitated spouse/parent by having monies deducted on a pre-tax basis.

Tax Sheltered Investment Program
You have the option to participate in a tax-sheltered retirement plan.
