Discovery Series

The Discovery Series offers monthly programs with information on a wide variety of health topics ranging from cardiovascular health, total joint replacement, to the prevention of the debilitating onset of osteoporosis. The lectures are presented by UConn faculty and physicians on a variety of timely health topics and clinical services.

Discovery Series programs are always free and open to the public. Pre-registration is required as seating is limited.

Turning Back the Clock
Aging and the Immune System

As an individual ages, the immune system loses its ability to fight off infections. Immunizations become less effective, and there is an increase in cancers associated with a weakening immune system.


During this program, you will learn about:

  • How the immune system changes as you age
  • The effectiveness of vaccines later in life
  • Ways to boost your immune system

Parkinson's disease is a progressive disorder of the central nervous system affecting more than 1.5 million people in the United States.
