Support Groups

The UConn Health Center is committed to enhancing the quality of your life and offers a wide variety of classes, programs and support groups to help you get well and stay healthy. The following support groups meet at the Health Center or other locations with the help of our physicians and staff.

Depression, Bipolar Support Group
When: Every Wednesday of each month; 7 to 9 p.m.
Where: Room LG066, UConn Health Center. Please use main hospital entrance.

Diabetes Support Group
For individuals with diabetes and their caregivers.
When: Second Thursday of each month; 5 to 6 p.m.

Gynecological Cancer Support Group

The group is open to patients, family members and caregivers. It is designed to act as a forum for those affected by gynecological cancers: ovarian, endometrial, cervical, fallopian tube, or peritoneal cancer to share experiences and information but most importantly provide each other with a supportive community. This will be in collaboration with the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition a nationally recognized organization whose mission is to increase public awareness of gynecological cancers; to advance gynecological cancers research; and to provide educational and support services for the gynecological cancer community.

Participants will be able to learn:

  • How others faced this disease and made adjustments to their lives
  • What to expect from different treatments
  • How to manage post treatment issues that arise
When: May 31, 2012; 5 to 6 p.m.

For people that have had near death and related experiences. Free and open to the public.

Preeclampsia Support Group
This group welcomes anyone whose life has been touched by the hypertensive disorders of pregnancy – Preeclampsia, HELLP, Toxemia, Pregnancy Induced Hypertension.
When: Every third Wednesday of each month; 6:30 to 8 p.m.

RESOLVE Infertility Peer Support Group
RESOLVE is a national non-profit, charitable organization that offers referral, counseling and support groups to people with problems of infertility and education and assistance to associated professionals.
When: Third Thursday of each month, 7 p.m.
